RE: Threats are dangerous.
RE: Threats are dangerous.Oil companies have been pulling out for over a year. Has very little to do with the Royalty issue . That is just a Public Scape Goat. We as Albertans allowed the US companies to pull out in the late 78-80. then after the pullout the NEP came into being. Oil companies jumped on the band wagon blaming NEP for the pullout. When in fact it was the cost of labor and such that made them invest in South and Central America due to labor and costs being cheaper.
Same thing has been occuring now. Oil companies pulled a lot of their budgets and exploration from Alberta last year. This is just and excuse to continuee pulling out for cheaper pastures...cheaper labour that is...Oil Royalties are higher and no exploration/developement money from those governments. Alberta paid for them to reinvest here after the 80's.
The American and international companies should have been prevented from coming back. Albertans should say to the world that we can invest in and produce our own Oil and gas. Play fair or we won't subsidize you to produce our Oil anymore...Only Canadain Companies will receive subsidies to explore and produce harder to recover Oil projects for huge profits.
Royalty issue is a bogus one as Albertans have contributed to development of Alberta Oil and gas from Royalty revenues. If the Oil companies wish to be GREEDY about Royalty concession then it is time for them to pay the full shot.
It's not like they lose money. The cost is passed on to the consumer... Prices go up and so do Oil profits.
All it means is higher costs for a barerel of Oil
Yes, Oil will reach the $100.00 plus mark per barrel
Any Oil companies threatening to stop or slow down should not be entitled to any oil incentive programs in the future by the Alberta Govenment...Pay All the cost themselves and full Royalty payments.
Same should be done to those shutting down projects over the last year.
