The administration of land and resources for the Shaanxi Province of China announced Wednesday that a new gold mine, reportedly with at least 80 tonnes of "proven reserves", has been found in the Jinlongshan (Zhenan) gold mining district.
The largest gold discovery ever found in the province is located in the Qinling Mountains, a major mountain range in central China, in Zhen'an County.
China's official news service Xinhua quoted a spokesman who said the project has more than 16 million tonnes of ore, including two million tonnes of oxide ore and at least 14 million tonnes of primary ore.
So far, 91 kinds of minerals have been discovered in Shaanxi Province, 58 of which have deposits ranking among the top ten in China. The reserves and output of gold rank fifth and fourth respectively. The province's coal reserves are among the top in the country.
China discovered 162 tones of "gold reserves" in the Yangshan Gold mine in the northwest Gansu Province earlier this year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.
