RE: Threats are dangerous.Response to Andy1983
1. I see you have not talked to those people that live over in Newfoundland and Labrador. They had heard the stories about the high cost of living in Alberta and the wages don't cut it. So why would they want to move here?????
2. Every industry in Alberta has to pay their fair share of taxes and royalities and yet you have the arrogance to ask for a royalty credit for the oil industry???? Especially after their huge profits???? What about the farmers and the cost of their machinery???? I suspect that won't hit you until the price of food in the store rises drastically for you.
3. Smaller companies is what built this oil industry. They gave money to local clubs etc... Your big oil companies have stopped doing this. Their scholarships are so designed to only give the rich kids the scholarships and man alive I have seen this first hand. It is a disgrace. Even their summer jobs are a real farce. Oh yes but they want to give money to sport complexes because they have to have their after hour enjoyment? They give money to huge organizations, which perhaps 20cents of every dollar really goes for the cause.
4. Waste of dollars is unbelievable with these big oil companies.
I suggest you should really look underneath all the glitter you see in Calgary and the BS being spewed to you in management meetings and take a deeper look at reality. That has always been the problem with those sitting in a Calgary office. They are so far off about the reality out in the fields.
You state....competition drives costs up, not down...well think again. More competition has shown to be far better and gets rid of these greedy threatening big oil companies. They don't sit down and negotiate anymore they just want to shove it down your throat.
What they are doing is holding the province through blackmail and threats...they will lose that is a guarantee. The people and government of this province have woken up to your American type Capitalism and realize that it is worse than communism. This will never be allowed again.
A one horse town dies if the horse dies. Alberta made the mistake of trying to make Oil & Gas as a one horse industry. Now the big oil companies want to kill the horse when they don't get their greedy way. Time to put that horse on a diet and concentrate on other industries. This way if one horse wants to leave...let them.
IMHO have a great day.
