Leveraging the WiMAX Forum's recently ratified NWG 1.0.0 specification, WiChorus and SR Telecom demonstrated interoperability with the R6 network interface. With a standard, open R6 interface, mobile operators have the flexibility to choose from a large ecosystem of best-of-breed equipment including base stations and ASN gateways. Without a standard interface, service providers get locked in to a proprietary solution that limits deployment and service options and inflates costs.
