Call them what you will, there is no question that the majority of lands in British Columbia, including the traditional lands of the TRTFN upon which the mine site is located, were not ceded through any historical treaty process and therefore it is arguable that the lands are still Indian lands. Obviously the issue is more complicated than that, but there is a legal consensus, including a number of recent and relevant Supreme Court decisions, that give credence to the fact that First Nations people living on unceded lands have extraordinary rights. Rights which need to be respected. And so they should, in my view. To dismiss those rights out of hand is only asking for difficulties. It seems that so far, AUA has taken the respectful and cooperative approach with their dealings with the TRTFN... An approach that should pay dividends to all AUA investors, including yourself...
