Sola Resource Corp.: Drilling and Bulk-Sampling of Kimberlites in Rondonia, Brazil Is Advancing Well
2007-11-05 14:02 ET - News Release
CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/05/07
Sola Resource Corp. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: SL) (PINK SHEETS: SOLAF) is recording progress with its delineation diamond-drilling program on the Carolina kimberlite body and on ground-based geophysical- and KIM-anomalies near Espigao d'Oeste in the State of Rondonia, NW Brazil.
To date, 12 HQ diamond-drill holes (C-001 to C-012) have been completed and hole C-013 is currently being drilled. All of these holes have encountered kimberlite and are augmenting the database for the construction of a Vulcan model of the irruptive body and for the calculation of potentially mineable volumes of kimberlite.
The smaller, more mobile diamond-drill rig is currently testing a target in the vicinity of the Carolina kimberlite which exhibits strong geophysical signatures and which has yielded abundant keliphite-rimmed pyropic garnets and a macrodiamond.
The kimberlite dike that was identified by ground-based geophysical surveys just to the SE of the Carolina kimberlite has been positively identified in holes CR-001 and CR-002. In both instances the kimberlite is hosted by strongly brecciated and sheared granitic rocks which clearly indicate that a NW-SE trending major fault zone controlled the local kimberlite emplacement. Recent pitting on the SE trend of the fault zone has discovered more kimberlite. Exploration is now focused on a trenching program to determine the extent of the dike and the potential for another pipe along strike.
After some modifications to the Jig Plant, initial efficiency tests are already being performed on the excavation, disaggregation and treatment of samples from the surface of the Carolina kimberlite. The first samples of the weathered kimberlite are being run through the plant at the present time. The plant, which now has 3 jigs, is operating in an efficient manner.
A new laboratory facility is nearing completion and Canamera's staff will soon starting training local sorters who will be identifying and picking kimberlite indicator minerals from the loam and stream-sediment samples being collected by the field exploration staff. This innovation will considerably increase the speed and efficiency of the regional field-exploration program.
