FremantleGood spotting Aldion. Without doing a lot of retracing I can't be certain but it seems to me this short article is typical of the way the press can distort matters by sloppy research and reporting. "Lead exports from Esperance were halted in March when it was discovered that the metal had caused contamination which killed thousands of birds and caused elevated lead levels in some residents' blood." I don't recall that "thousands" of birds were killed or that lead levels in any resident's blood were of geat concern. I believe the dead bird numbers were much fewer and that any blood lead levels were, although higher than normal, not life threatening or even a great cause for concern. This report makes it sound like the situation was extremely alarming. It appears that IVW is making slow but steady progress towards resolving its shipping situation.
