RE: will zinc fall below a buck?Hi Artemus,
For those chartist out there a look at the five year chart of zinc (I looked at the chart on kitco) shows what looks alot like a head and shoulders pattern. If this is the case then one method of calculating a probable downside target is to draw a 'neck line' along the bottom of the head and shoulders (the 3 'humps'). When I do this I get a neck line of about $1.40 under the top of $2.10. Since the difference is 0.70 you subract 0.7 - 1.40 to get a target of 0.70 for zinc.
A better way is to use percentages ie 2.10-1.40 is 0.7 which is a 33% decline. 33% of 1.40 is 0.46.
$1.40-0.46 = 0.94
I believe that this 0.94 is possible so yes Artemus it is entirely possible that the price of zinc falls below a dollar from a technical perspective.
I'm not predicting this will be the case nor do I advocate TA predictions of price targets. I simply wanted to illustrate some classical technical theory with regards to the zinc price FYI.
