RE: RE: triple G2For those that care here is a little more info on the Copper leaching that is going on there.
IT sounds very interesting and complicated so I thought I would post it here to let people understand the process of solving the issue and moving this forward.
Remember that this is being done as I type and that moving forward into the future we should not have a problem as they have found a means to the ends.
Here are some of the answers to some of my questions.
You are right about copper leaching, to a point. There are several different copper sulfide minerals, with the difference being in the relative amounts of copper and sulfur, and other elements. Most of the copper in the world is produced from the mineral chalcopyrite, which is copper, sulfur and iron. Calcopyrite is very difficult to leach, so it is concentrated and smelted to free the copper. Our ore contains chalcocite, which is at the other end of the spectrum. Calcocite can be leached using bioleaching, a technique that uses naturally occurring bacteria that eat sulfur and release the copper atoms. Bioleaching is a proven method in use around the world. In fact, the oxide ore we leach is a result of naturally occurring biooxidation. Your next question about insulating the solutions is related to the bioleaching. Since we are using bacteria, or 'bugs' as we call them, the process works faster when the bugs are warm. Therefore, keeping the solutions warm is important. We are using a product called birdballs, originally designed to keep ducks off the leach ponds at gold mines. The early users found that the balls also act as insulation. The balls are about 4 inches in diameter, hollow, and are made from HDPE, the same material we use to line the ponds. Enough balls are put in each pond to completely cover the surface. In our case that is somwhere between 1 and 2 million balls.
As to the other questions you have, I wish I could answer your questions, and the questions of all shareholders, but my hands are tied by disclosure rules put in place to protect shareholders. As the recent press release stated, we will not be releasing the third quarter results by the November 15th deadline. As we indicated in the release. we are expecting "subsequent events" momentarily, and the rules tell us that we must announce those with the quarterly report. For the protection of all shareholders we are in a news blackout until we can make a public announcement that can be accessed by all shareholders.
I understand that it is very frustrating for you, as it is for all of us. I have campaigned for much of my career for transparency in the communications of corporations, and have led the mining industry with several new standards of disclosure. Please understand that I will tell all shareholders all I can, when I can.
Thank you for your interest and support of Constellation Copper.
