Here's the CBC Radio story from November 13, 2007: The BC government has given the go ahead to build a road into a proposed mine near Atlin. Adnac Molybdenum wants to build a 20 kilometer long all weather road from Surprise Lake into its property northeast of Atlin. Company president Michael McLeod said the Taku River Tlingit, Ketza Construction and Golden Hill Ventures will all be working on the project. Once the road is finished McLeod said the company will be hauling a 500 person camp into the site and getting ready to build a mine. (McLeod) “We expect to be constructing next year and the construction should be completed in early 2009, probably around March, April-ish and we should be running commercially from then forward.” McLeod expects as many as 700 people could be working for Adanac next year. He said the workers will be tested for drugs and alcohol and he says all workers will be given cultural awareness training to help them work appropriately within Taku River Tlingit traditional territory.
