RE: Can anybody explain to me why

RE: Can anybody explain to me why"do people (ITG) sell every 500 shares? I don't understand." It's called price manipulation and ITG was brilliant today. They held the stock down with the sale of small lots (500 shares). In the meantime, the asks were piling up. Every time there was a buy, ITG or anonymous (probably ITG) made a quick sale so that the stock does not seem to get any traction. Then, at about 15 minutes to close, guess who swoops up and buys 10's of thousands of shares ... yup, ITG. The buying stopped with one lot left at 88 cents. Now the stroke of genius ... with just a minute left, a final sale of 500 lots was made at 84 cents to get a nasty looking close ... guess who??? Tomorrow, the stock starts off at depressed levels and frustrated holders start putting up the asks from 84 cents and up. Guess who will be buying????? P.S. This type of manipulation is not legal, but it goes on all the time and the SEC seems uninterested or unable to stop it.
