RE: Dear SH members...arlekinoI've accumulated quite a large position in MPV (bought 2,000 more today for a total of 27,000 shares). I have no doubt it'll pay off big time with a bit of patience.
I've mentioned another company here before -- Mantle Resources Inc. (TSX.V : MTS) -- one of the MPV directors (Varshney) is the CEO. I've done alot of due diligence on MTS and I think it is the best zinc-lead play in North America. I anticipate a huge win ($$). Right now, it's trading at a bargain price.
The main deposit -- Akie -- is proving to be a large high grade zinc-lead-silver deposit which remains open for expansion in all directions. The company also has acquired a huge land position surrounding the deposit (so blue sky potential for another discovery exists) -- all within in the highly prospective Kechika Trough zinc-lead basin in British Columbia. The two companies that effectively own the district are Mantle and Teck Cominco. The Akie deposit is only 18 kilometers from Teck/Korea Zinc’s Cirque zinc-lead deposit. There is already significant infrastructure in place, including roads to within 6 km of the property, there is power nearby, there are rail lines close by that connect to Prince Rupert (port city) -- ie. mining this deposit is very "do-able".
Lundin Mining (TSX:LUN) has a very keen interest in the project. Just this week they participated in a $1.30 per share financing to maintain a just under 10% equity interest in Mantle. I think there are other majors circling...it is undoubtedly a potential takeover target.
Mantle commenced an aggressive drill program in late June ($10 million, with 3 drill rigs contracted). The results of the first 3 holes from this year's program have been announced and have returned very high grades and wide intercepts, including 32.02 meters grading 18.75 % Zn+Pb (including 16.40 meters of of 22.59% Zn+Pb).
There are still 9 more holes pending assays, so there will be good news flow over the coming few months.
Mantle recently hired a new President, Jim Mustard -- previously VP and Senior Mining Analyst at Haywood Securities Inc. Jim is highly respected in the Canadian capital markets and also has a great deal of technical / geological experience. For him to leave Haywood for the opportunity to spearhead Mantle is a very strong endorsement of the potential that the company holds.
I fully expect MPV and MTS to be huge wins for investors.
