wow - pleasantly surprised

I thought I read that the markets were closed at 1pm yesterday so I did some last minute buying just before then and went about my business. Today I see that the markets stayed open and I made some huge gains with a few of my stocks. Yet I must admit that there was no real apparent reason for it. Anyway I hope its a good sign for the New Year as overall 2007 was not a good year for me personally (not market wise). Happy New Year to all and lets hope for good things in all our investing!! PS newtrader your thinking with re to cvi's move makes sense but it does not apply to my other big moves yesterday.
