RE: Another article for ACT
RE: Another article for ACTWhat he did not mention or did not publish was the fact that they would know the last known location of the missing miners before the collapse or most severe scenario possible.
This would permit the rescue crews to drill more accurately and not have to guess (Without any data) where they could be. This is what was problematic in attempting to save the miners, and what created the second tragic event with 3 more deaths (Rescuers) as they were blindly drilling too many holes on unsafe ground.
What Mr Barrett was referring to was the inability to communicate directly with the miners after the collapse. No underground system be it wired or wireless could withstand this type of event. But keep in mind you can use the Data just prior to that event to the advantage of the MSHA and rescue crews. This will save on initial evaluation efforts and concentrate on safety, save valuable Time and most importantly save Lives, as in these types of events Time is the key factor and usually isn't on anyones side (Miners, Rescue Crew & Families involved).
Very stressful events when you dont have any information on hand.
