RE: TATA is a GAS powered carCOMPARING THE TATA vehicle and VV cars, is an inappropriate practice.
The TATA car has:
1. no a/c
2. no gauges
3. built on indian territory with logistical costs/transportation costs localized to its local market.
4. the vehicle uses low, low grade parts
VV is different because:
1. maintains all luxuries currently expected in the north american markets
2. all appropriate gauges
3. satellite linked communication/monitoring
4. locally built (for the most part)
5. established dealer/service network
6. better grade parts
finally, a vehicle that is sold for 50-75% cheaper than the cheapest car in north america will create a negative image and hamper its sales. no matter how great it is on gas.
Realistically, the entire southern california would have switch to motorbikes instead of cars by now, if that was the case.
there are other matters to consider as well. The cost of the battery is unknown as well, to venture that it will cost more than $2,500 to build/sell is shear bullocks as there is no basis for suggesting that price (unless you can prove me otherwise).
I have my reservations about EFL, but i believe that this may in fact be a beneficial transaction for EFL and its shareholders.
Good luck.
I look forward to your responses.
