RE: Politics and religion

RE: Politics and religion

It is hard to disagree with the substance ofwhat danatbank had to say on this subject. The regrettable fact that an Oligarchy now runs America is something that all investors will have to take into account.

I think datatbank raised a valid point about mining when he concluded his remarks by saying:

“What I don’t want to see is a major royalty hike in order to pay for unconstitutional warfare and an illegal immigrant/anchor-baby welfare bonanza. As the US is virtually bankrupt one doesn’t need to be a genius to foresee a huge government money grab. Methinks as the first step a repeal of the 1872 mining act could be in the cards (luckily ML is unaffected).”

While this is an item that will need to be monitored, for the time being, there is enough resistance keep this in check.Senator Larry Craig of Idaho, whohas considerable influence in these matters, recently remarked, “The royalty must be carefully set and be reasonable to avoid choking out our domestic industry An 8 percent net smelter return royalty doesn’t mean anything if there isn’t an industry to apply it to.”

Even that notorious tool of the Establishment Left, the New York Times, had to admit what a tall order it would be undermine the 1872 law when they said:

“The push to update the antiquated mining law will require delicate maneuvering by the majority leader, Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, who is the son of a gold miner and represents the state with the largest gold production, and by other Democrats mindful of the crucial role that Western states will play in next year’s elections.”

Here is a link to the NYT article, and it’s chock full of their typical snide remarks

In a general sense, twobtapn has a good point, that it would be better to reservethe more heated political discussions to another forum. For those who were not aware, Stockhouse has a forum that accommodates that need, and here is a link to one of my posts (on Global Warming) that appeared on that forum.

P.S.It is very much apparent that Stockhouse is antognitic/ hostile to some of their contributors, and apparently I must be one of them. This post was BLOCKED from the ordinary site, and could only be posted, upon their instance, at the BETA site, where they have their MONITORING equipment in place. This is very much reminiscent of the Big Brother mentality to which danatbank referred in his “political” post.

Stockhouse paranoia is a bad omen for all those who embrace Liberty.
