On Nature " Mating Habits of Bumsharks"Tonight on Nature TV , you'll be taken undersea to view the
strange habits of the rare Bumshark.
Little is know of this wide mouthed toothless shark,
except that it has a very small brain,
tends to flee and hide in the coral than face a battle of
'wits' with the much quicker, smarter Acerbik investor shark.
Bumbsharks have the unique ability to produce a noxious
odor to defend itself from attacks.
Some Southern Pacific islanders refer to it
as a sea skunk , or a stinky bum shark.
So far scientists have had only limited opportunity
to observe the mating ritual of this shark.
Their first thoughts were that the fish was asexual,
with the majority of them being females.
However new evidence indicates that on weekends,
the bumshark will bend over backwards,
hoping to be 'nailed' by a bull Hammerhead Shark.
The islander fisherman do not catch bumsharks,
They are looked upon as a trash fish,
in fact there are many slurs and insults
directed at the fish as well as shameful members
of the village who bring dishonour to
either the family or a village itself.
To be called a bumshark , makes you the lowest form
of society, unworthy of respect.
