RE: Barrhead reposting of timelines
RE: Barrhead reposting of timelinesHi namada: It is the weekend, and I would doubt if there are many inspectors working on the weekend. If it is critical sour well here in Alberta, the rig is inspected night or day as the mandate to work with the industry is pretty strong as well the public expectation for proper certification or inspection. Most try to accomadate the inspectors on-call and it works out pretty good.
The Nabors 45 rig will be a showpiece for the next few months, and will set the standards for the next number of years to come. The rest of the oil and gas industry will be painted with the same paint brush when they come knocking to drill the next well(s), or usher in other sister rigs that may come if 2K-39 is successful.
With that mandate in mind there should be a plan in place to deal with any emergency, and protect the workers, public and the environment. They will probably setting various strings of casing, and starting will a conductor barrel 20-30" in diameter. Then surface casing 8-13" in diameter to about 500 meters. This sets the foundation for the blowout protectors for well control, and possibly the well head at a later date. Well control is essential and a must, and these first two sets of casing are the most crucial. IMO all precautions should be taken into consideration, as there is so much at stake. To drill that first 26-30" hole followed with probably a 12.625" through hard rock in Newfoundland, perhaps some others can comment on how long that will take. The technology and well control to drill this well is very straight forward, all we have to do is sit back and watch them do their jobs.
