Stay awake..ARCTIC STAR MOBILIZES TO CREDIT LAKE
Arctic Star Diamond Corp. has mobilized its Credit Lake property to commence the 2008 drilling program. The drill rig is scheduled to arrive on April 1.
The closed-space till sampling undertaken in the summer of 2007 at the end of the South Coppermine indicator mineral train has now shown the apparent source of the indicator train. The target area is now 1.7 kilometres to the southeast of the area that was the focus of exploration drilling in 2007. This indicator train was disturbed by meltwater at the end of the ice age as is illustrated by an esker cutting through the train leaving an 800-metre gap. Encouragingly, the area highlighted by the new sampling hosts several geophysical anomalies that have kimberlite-like characteristics.
Geophysical crews are now conducting ground surveys over these targets to prepare them for drill testing. The company has persisted with locating the source of the South Coppermine indicator mineral train as it demonstrates excellent chemistry that is consistent with the source being mineralized with diamonds. The chemistry is comparable with that of the nearby producing mines of Ekati (32 km away) and Diavik (56 km away).
The nearest kimberlites to the Credit Lake property occur on New Nadina's Monument property. The indicator train coming from these kimberlites enters the company's Credit Lake property to the north of the South Coppermine train, and this new target area is parallel to it. There are several other unexplained indicator anomalies on the Credit Lake property. Once the company has located the source of the South Coppermine indicator mineral train it will use the same methods to locate the source of the other trains. Images of the latest till results and some of the geophysical targets have been posted on the company's website.
