RE: !!! We Have Oil !!!

RE: !!! We Have Oil !!!No NR from SPE, no news posted on their website. Then again, being a tight hole why would there be anything?

Pedagogic, I highly doubt they are flowing oil to surface at this stage of the game.  For starters, if there was flow, it would be conducted through DST (Drill Stem Test) with limited flow being allowed.  If oil is being produced, they would have to flare off the solution gas -  allowing it to vent is not an option.  If they did drill into an oil zone, there would be some tell tale signs for onsite personell  - drill cuttings showing flourecence, elevated mud gases. etc.  The most probable course of action would be to condition the hole and get the loggers on site to run a series of open hole logs, followed by a DST run.  Has anyone seen a Schlumberger, Baker or Weatherford logging unit heading to location?  Following that, either they  would set casing and do a proper flow evaluation, or weight up and continue drilling.  The last thing you want to do is flow the well before casing is set as you can jepardize the entire operation.  Nothing like having an underground uncontrolled blowout to really mess a well up!

There is too much invested in this well to do an ad hoc flow test of the secondary zone.  Wait until they reach the primary zone, then come uphole and do a proper test.  Anything else defies logic.
