RE: News - Starfish
RE: News - StarfishThis is big news and adds an additional competitive edge to Activemine.
We knew the mesh nodes were capable of using redundancy and self-healing to produce this type of wireless LAN, but this confirms to me that it does not need an external feed to continue operations below. This means if all communication to surface is to deteriorate to the point where no communication can be made, Starfish will allow miners below to continue voice (Possibly data? But I would eliminate the use of data to not use up the battery life unecessarily) between themselves. This will help in a situation where certain miners are in need of Air Chambers, Shelters, Information on Situation assessment (Blocked Corridors, accessibility to oxygen tanks).
This will give a much higher success rate in emergency situations to rescue miners as this will provide the trapped miners with improved organization and time efficiency. Tracking will then provide the rescuers an area where miners were last located, once they reach below (Within 4 days) they will be able to communicate with the miners via Starfish to communicate (Using the basic communications system) with the trapped miners below.
This is yet again another bright color being added to the palette for ACT to paint the big picture!
