Rocmec Introduces Thermal Fragmentation Process at Symposium Held in South Africa

POINTE-CLAIRE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 13, 2008) - Rocmec Mining inc. (the "Company" (TSX VENTURE:RMI) (FRANKFURT:D5O) is pleased to announce that it was selected to present its thermal fragmentation mining process at the 3rd International Symposium on narrow-vein and reef mining held in Johannesburg, South Africa on May 6th and 7th 2008.

The extraction process by way of thermal fragmentation was presented to a select group of individuals working in major mining companies operating in South Africa. Mining industry delegates from other countries such as the United States (Nevada region) were also present as well as representatives from other African countries. Over 100 individuals were in attendance, all with one major goal in mind: reducing dilution in extracting precious metals. The new extraction process was well received and the participants demonstrated a great deal of interest during and after the presentation. Rocmec presented concrete facts on a process that is currently in operation and has reached the stage where it can now be employed in the majority of gold mines in South Africa.

South African deposits are amenable to thermal fragmentation for various reasons, such as: very narrow veins (average 50 cm), deposits operated with little or no mechanization, reduced productivity and a high rate of fatal accidents.

With the interest generated by the conference, Rocmec will continue its efforts already initiated to obtain partnership agreements and will fast track its strategy for the implementation of its technology in South Africa.

"We are excited about the strong level of interest demonstrated by the participants both during and after the presentation and look forward to build on the contacts made at the conference", stated Donald Brisebois, President and CEO of Rocmec.
