RE: Making Big $$$ on Cline - $20,000,000
I rarely post here - most of my posts are over on the Yahoo 'CCJ' boards regarding nuclear/uraniums and on other boards here on stockhouse.
Though no fan of Dines/Inwentash (understatement supreme) I've now been long Pinetree warrants as a discount to NAV/implied volatility discount play for a few months (looking for a big move in the warrants in the coming weeks).
I maintain a comprehensive spreadsheet of Pinetree's disclosed investments and update the value of their individual portfolio holdings daily (I VEHEMENTLY warned longs last year on this board when PNP was trading at 4X NAV based on Dines BS hype - but most ignored me/called me a basher).
PNP is now trading at a significant discount to its NAV, particularly since they ascribe NO value to out of the money options/warrants they hold - this is the kind of investment I look for (AAB.TO also fits this profile, in fact more so).
Yes - Cline has been a HUGE winner (nearly $20M) for Pinetree this quarter, and has ascended to become its third largest portfolio holding behind Noront and Mega Uranium (and is actually quite close to overtaking Mega for #2).
Western Potash has also been an ENORMOUS winner of late, with the value of Pinetree's holding there increasing four fold --> a profit of over $15,000,000+.
To my knowledge, Pinetree is the largest shareholder in both Cline and Western Potash...
Imho these sizeable investments in coal and potash now provide well rounded support to Pinetree's precious/base metal and uranium investment portfolio.... Hopefully the market will begin to realize this - and Dines will finally stop refering to PNP as a "uranium mutual fund"...
Mega has been showing some stability of late, but Noront continues to languish - I believe this is the primary driver holding Pinetree common down (I don't think many people have recognized the Cline and Western Potash windfall yet).
FYI: by my calculation, Pinetree basic NAV now stands at ~$3.94
