RE: House PositionsThese numbers look interesting, but are rather useless. Here is why I think they don’t help much:
- In order for someone to buy someone must sell.
- “Institutions” simply refers to the main institutional bank. As in a bank that has many, many clients. The institution does not act as a single logical entity. It is an amalgamate of many different interests; although a large volume all at once from a single source can indicate something. If we knew more information such as the broker agent code, or some sort of market id branch code, responsible for each transaction, then yes it would help identify where it’s all coming from; but just the generic institution name (unless it happens to be a huge volume all at once, or a dramatic price change) doesn’t really tell us enough for it to be too useful…beyond wild rumours.
These are my thoughts and I really don’t know much about much of anything; they’re just opinions to be taken lightly.
