Info
While drilling hopefully they cored through the zones. They can use these cores to determine the permeability and perosity of the rock. Permeability is the size and shape of the pores and thus how much fluid/gas they hold. Perosity is the open spaces in the rock that allow the fluid/gas to move through when a presure drop occurs. While swabbing they determine what fluid the zone has and the ability to flow - thus confirming the info from the cores. The core data also lets you determine what kind of stimulus might be needed to increase flow if the swabs confirm oil/gas but low flow -ie acid job, frac etc. The flow is also determined by pressure and when you swab you drop the wellbore pressure and allow the fluid/gas to travel to the wellbore. If it is a low pressure reservoir pumping will be required, high pressure should flow on its own. Preeceville has seeps which means there must be at least sufficient pressure to push the oil/gas from the reservoir to surface through fractures in the overburden. Hopefuuly only a few swabs would be required to remove the wellbore fluid and fluid in the formation from drilling and completion operations. Since there are 2 zones(formations) this would have to be done twice isolating the zones while doing the work to determine if there are 2 different formations or they are the same. If different then the pressure of them is important- if a big difference they will have to be produced separately to prevent cross flow-if the pressures are the same or close they can be comingled and produced together.
This is time consuming as they need to run and pull the production/testing string a few times- rig up perforators a couple of times and on and on etc.
Since this is an exploration play the first holes take longer to gather all the info as above but once gathered future wells happen a lot faster.
I understand they were shut down over the weekend due to rain so hopefully we will get a NR today or tomorrow as Don had stated he would have something early this week.( 2 day delay from rain and 2 zones to evaluate vs one as they expected)
Hold on- it is going to be fantastic.
