Look at it this way:  only NAG knew about  both the GXS coal strike AND the Adamas strike.

If part of the plan was to stake as much land as possible, they knew they would want to try and stake it between, and as close as possible to; the two seperate strike zones.... 'connecting the dots'.

Very obviously they would have been ready to exploit any opportunity to grab some of WGF's (or GXS)'s) staked land.  They would have been diligently searching for any possibility of doing this. 

I don't know what the criteria is for being able to 'trump' previous applications, but I'm sure that NAG was fully aware of how to do it. 

IMO, it's very possible that they've done this to some degree.  Time (and permits) will tell.
