The C Series is a big, bold move that could trigger massive retaliation by Boeing, Airbus and from Brazil's Embraer SA , Bombardier's chief rival in the regional jet game. If the competition goes into carpet-bombing mode, Mr. Beaudoin might find he has foolishly risked the fortunes of a company that narrowly averted disaster only a few years ago. The C Series is Bombardier's future; there is no Plan B if it is shot from the sky.
