RE: Goldman Sachs & Anonymous

RE: Goldman Sachs & AnonymousI thought it was an interesting idea that Barrick bought into energy not as a hedge but as an operational investment.  In that post the writer said that development of Donlin Creek was the target.  What about the target being Galore Creek?  I doubt it would make sense to pipe gas from NW Alberta or NE British Columbia to Alaska, however it might make sense to pipe it to Galore Creek and get that project going.  It would require Barrick joining with Teck Cominco as partner, however that does not sound an impossible combination to me and there seems little doubt that the area around Galore Creek is very prospective for large scale mineral developments.

Whatever the thinking, when Goldman buys in volume I would hesitate for a very long time to go short.  You don't want to be betting against Goldman Sachs.  Much better to stay long and (hopefully) enjoy whatever ride comes along.
