It’snot black gold yet, but still very promising. Thisexploration activity is 750km northwest of Walvis Bay and an estimated60km offshore. The company utilizes Opuwo as an operational base tosupply the exploration ship “Deep Venture” with crew and supplies tocarry out the drilling work. The company commenced exploration drilling operations early in Aprilthis year and estimated it would take around sixty to ninety days toascertain whether there is bankable oil reserves. It is not known yetwhether the natural gas found is commercially viable. The status ofpossible oil deposits is also not known yet.Namib Times learnt earlier that the drilling operations weresignificantly more difficult than what was expected and that peeledvaluable time off the exploration schedule.Friday 11 July 2008.
