RE: Something to think about...

RE: Something to think about...wi lan (own a couple of hundred shares) is a pure IP company- their sole source of revenue.
Certicom offers products and services (licensing software).  Quite different.
Linux has not replaced Windows even though the former is supposedly open source and the latter proprietary. RIMM, Apple are examples of proprietary technology- if you price, and much more importantly, market them well. Cree decided to become a vertically selling LED company even while remaining an OEM to others, because they wanted  to  accelerate the gowt of the LED market and use of their products.
Certicom product development and marketing, specially pricing ,(given the math background some of these guys must understand optimization) is a measurable failure.
Certicom  has  virtually admitted that selling tool kits didn't make much money ( these guys spent hundreds of millions of dollars doing fa before lately coming to this realization?  What does it say about their business savy?
This is where a seasoned Board kicks butt and makes changes not merely hire a CEO who sounds too much  like his predecessor. Lets hope he is different delivers better results.
I hope cagey brings some  of his ethnic  entrepreneurial  roots to achieve better results at Certicom.
