RE: U.S. Ports, Clean Truck Momentum growingHe sure gave that article the “martini twist” didn’t he… the point of the program is to improve air quality. If American carriers are so concerned about having tax payers funds go toward Foreign owned trucks, why don’t/didn’t they make a run for the application process as soon as it opened, and order all the available funding before anyone else did?
I have been thinking how I could assist the O/O in the U.S. who does not want to become an employee of a big trucking company, and this would be one way to do it. I/we could buy the truck with a miniscule down payment, and have someone at the Port select a good candidate to continue on as an owner operator. However, the stock does not seem to want to move in a positive direction for long enough to give me the opportunity to see this idea through.
If Westport’s stock happened to rise, I was thinking of proposing that large-long-term-WPT-investors take a couple grand and put it towards this plan (I think I know enough people to buy one or two: if the inference is correct it would cost $20,000 for each truck); but I’m not going to do it if it’s going to screw around like this… it would look cool in a news headline to see someone standing in front of a brand new truck that didn’t cost them a dime; and there would be a little sticker saying “This truck partially paid for by: The Coalition of Canadian Clean Truck Investors. (I’d take the Canadian out if there were American investors who wanted to throw in: maybe T. Boone would help out, lol)
All we would get out of it is the satisfaction of another truck sale (plus the hype that goes with a free truck) and it would be a nice way to show that we are not all the greedy money grabbing capitalists we are J… but right now its lookin’ more like The Coagulation of Delusional and Dirty Pipe Dreams… times one.
