OSU Processing/Blasting

OSU Processing/Blasting

If one compares the July 10th news release to the 2Q08 news release dated August 18th, you will notice that all the same comments for mining/blasting and processing are identical. There was little, if any, new information. Thus, it appears we have had no new information since July 10th on the progress of reaching design capacity. OSU may be performing better, worse, or the same since July 10th it would appear.

In regard to grade control, from reading both near identical news releases on mine operations, it appears that the problem lays with blasting and resulting fragmentation:
"The blasting contractor has brought in a new blasting expert and a new permanent explosives mixing and delivery truck. These changes in the blasting process will improve the overall productivity of the mine and will allow for better fragmentation and therefore improved grade control."

Thus, it appears that the problem is more with the blasting than with the gold not being there in the grades consistent with the Tech Report. This should be considered good news. One can likely change blasting procedures to get a better grade, but one cannot change the grade if the drill results were in error...

refer to the sections on Fragmentation Results and Grade Control.
Here is the opening paragraph which sums it up nicely:
"The art of turning ore into gold begins with blasting. Something that appears to be a destructive application of energy can, in the right hands, deftly carve the precious ore body away from the waste, helping to provide the rest of the operation with the correct grade needed to produce gold on an economic level."
