coalbed methane how ft is affected?

coalbed methane how ft is affected?the forces against coalbed methane are against the development of this form of energy in BC.  They say the extraction and aftermath  is very dirty. It can ruin the salmon for one thing because the rivers will get polluted not to mention peoples drinking water so its put forth.
Now everyone loves the beauty of nature and country life. Wild animals, healthy happy fish, clean air etc.  Then we see what man is capable of ie the wheels of progress grind so strong in some cities that just walking around is a health hazard for smog.
The point is what is best for the progress of ft's goal to extract coal from Klappan?  The Shell program to drill Klappan is bringing "heat".  Does anyone think Shell is good for Fortune.  There are forces at work here. One is the enviromentalissts and they shove hard.  They can force or will try to force Shell to promise the "cleanest solution" possible if it can be presented then it could pass by all gate keepers. Is it possible? I am not capable to say and probably some of the enviromentalist don't know either, but they are afraid.  Shell will have to spend to clean.
Similar fears are harboured about the extraction of coal.  There are website and wikapedia dedicated to the "Sacred Headwaters" etc.  The websites and internet has a strong voice expounding the anti mining points of view.
