Torch River Reports 144 Meters of Moly at 0.123% Mo

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Oct.21, 2008) - Torch River Resources Ltd ("Torch") (TSX VENTURE:TCR) (PINKSHEETS:TORVF) (FRANKFURT:WNF) is pleased to announce further drillresults in its 2008 program on its Red Bird molybdenum/copper/rheniumproperty in British Columbia. DDH 153, 154 and 155 are located 258meters east of, 85 meters north of, and 73 meters higher in elevationin relation to recently reported DDH 08-RB-156. All containdisseminated and fracture filling molybdenite associated with quartzstockwork and K-spar/kaolinite alteration which is hosted in quartzmonzonite porphyry. A sixteen hole program with a total of 5,000 metersof drilling has now been completed on Red Bird in 2008 with four holesremaining to be reported.

The results of assays on the diamond drill holes (DDH) are as follows:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
From - To Length Equivalent
DDH 153 (meters) (meters) Mo% Cu% Mo%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
0-20 20 .116% .056% .120%
----------------------------------------------------------
20-40 20 .106% .031% .108%
----------------------------------------------------------
46-54 12 .097% .036% .100%
----------------------------------------------------------
76-100 24 .087% .043% .090%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DDH 153 ended in mineralization (mostly copper) at 152.3 meters depth

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
From - To Length Equivalent
DDH 154 (meters) (meters) Mo% Cu% Mo%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2-70 68 .115% .046% .118%
----------------------------------------------------------
70-108 38 .098% .039% .101%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DDH 154 ended in mineralization (mostly copper) at 148 meters depth

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
From - To Length Equivalent
DDH 155 (meters) (meters) Mo% Cu% Mo%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2-146 144 .123% .046% .126%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DDH 155 ended in mineralization at 243.9 meters depth

DDH 159 was drilled 200 meters east of DDH 08-RB-156. This hole waspreviously reported, however, some data was incomplete, so the finalresults are being restated.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DDH 159 From - To Length Equivalent
(meters) (meters) Mo% Cu% Mo%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
10-40 30 .076% .045% .080%
----------------------------------------------------------
40-90 50 .123% .029% .125%
----------------------------------------------------------
including 72-84 12 .191% .033% .193%
----------------------------------------------------------
90-170 80 .072% .061% .078%
----------------------------------------------------------
170-212.6 42.6 .016% .171% .032%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DDH 159 ended in mineralization at 212.6 meters depth

DDH 160 was drilled 100 meters east of DDH 08-RB-156.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DDH 160 From - To Length Equivalent
(meters) (meters) Mo% Cu% Mo%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
240-292 52 .072% .014% .073%
----------------------------------------------------------
474-496 22 .083% .034% .085%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DDH 160 ended in mineralization at 506 meters depth

Note: Equivalent molybdenum percentages were calculated using prices of
$30.40 and $2.15 per pound of molybdenum (Mo) and copper (Cu)
respectively.

Torch is very encouraged as these results show long strike lengthsof mineralization from surface in four of the above reported holes. This complements the above average Mo geochemical and assay valuesreceived in 2008.

We will report further results as they become available. Furtherholes in the program further tested these areas of the Main Zone andalso parts of the Southeast and Southwest Zones. Torch is interested inthe potential of high grade sub-zones of the Main Zone as they mightrelate to a possible starter pit for future production and also thepotential for high grade potential underground resources.
