Could it also be that the kind of investor that buys BNK is a high risk/high reward type investor (they don't want no stinkin' 15% return, they want 200% plus). This type of investor is the most likley to use margin accounts to leverage even more. When things tank, like they have, margin investors are screwed and have to sell.
I said it before - I have no problem with anyone shorting a stock. Shorts take risk also. Manipulating it is a different story. I believe there has been some of that happening in the market turnmoil and to me that is tantamount to looting during a hurricane - vile behaviour that I very much hope is exposed later on.
