William G.T. Tuttle, Jr. General, U.S. Army (Ret.) joins ODIN technologies Advisory Board

ODIN technologies broadens expertise with addition of former U.S. Army General

Ashburn, VA, November 4, 2008 – ODIN technologies, the leader in the physics of RFID deployment and automation is pleased to announce the latest edition to its advisory board, William G.T. Tuttle, Jr. General, U.S. Army (Ret).  As a member of ODIN’s advisory board, Tuttle will work closely with the ODIN team to assess new RFID solutions that automate key processes and enable new capabilities in the Defense sector, while advising ODIN on how to best navigate the complex Defense Department opportunities.

General Tuttle is particularly well positioned to provide Defense Department – RFID insight.  As the Army's senior logistician, General Tuttle led 100,000 soldiers and civilians of the U.S. Army Materiel Command from 1989 until his retirement early in 1992, a period encompassing Operation Just Cause in Panama and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  From 1993 to 2001 he served as President and Chief Executive Officer for the Logistics Management Institute (LMI) where he provided logistics consulting and technology services to the United States Department of Defense.  He continues to serve as a Trustee.

“The addition of General Tuttle to the Advisory Board means ODIN will deepen its understanding of the warfighter’s needs. He will further cement our position as the RFID leader in the defense sector.  General Tuttle’s unique experience offers unparalleled insight into military operations complexity and supplements ODIN’s extensive knowledge base in military logistics,” commented Patrick J. Sweeney II founder of ODIN technologies.  He added, “We are honored to have General Tuttle join ODIN as an advisor.  From his leadership in Desert Storm through his invaluable government counsel while at the Logistics Management Institute, he has been at the center of many of the Army’s most significant logistics decisions and programs for the past three decades.  ODIN will leverage General Tuttle’s military logistics knowledge and experience to craft innovative RFID solutions that are accurate, scalable and easy for war fighters and support operations to employ.”

William G.T. “Bill” Tuttle, Jr. General, U.S. Army (Ret.) commented, “I am impressed with the ODIN team’s scientific knowledge and unmatched experience gained from over 200 completed RFID projects both in the military and commercial sector.  This broad knowledge base offers them unique insight into how military commanders can best utilize RFID to better support the war fighter.  I look forward to working with the ODIN team to hone its RFID solution approach to best align with the Department of Defense logistics mission.”

General Tuttle is the author of Defense Logistics for the 21st Century, which was published by Naval Institute Press in May 2005.  General Tuttle is a widely sought after teacher and speaker and he has lectured on defense logistics at the Defense Acquisition University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Army Logistics Management College, the University of North Carolina’s LOGTECH program and at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

General Tuttle is a 1958 graduate of the United States Military Academy and earned a masters degree in business administration at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.  He is a graduate of the Infantry and Transportation basic and advanced officer courses, the Armed Forces Staff College, and the Army War College.

He holds the Defense, Army (three awards), Navy, and Air Force Distinguished Service Medals as well as several other Defense, Army, and foreign decorations and awards, the Senior Parachutist Badge, and the Ranger Tab.  He received the “Presidents” Award of the Association of the U.S. Army in 1992 and the Logistician Emeritus Award from the National Defense Industrial Association in 1998.
