RE: beedope posts...Good point. At the end of October I also eed Dr Smith and few things he replied do put some blame on government.
He states "In Canada we have not yet been able to justify, through a business plan, the high costs of further approvals and clinical trials that would allow us to do multiple or addition testings"
He also states, relating to Canada, "health care groups and investors often site the failure of the first Health Canada approved HIV test. It was obviously not done properly and had to be withdrawn. It seems to be partly used as an excuse for inadequate public health care programs." I believe the test he was referring to were done by the company now known as Adaltis.
These comments were in response to my e-mail about why the multiple test could not be used by the government of Alberta, and now Saskatchewan, to test all those patients who may have been exposed to Hep and HIV through multiple use of needles in some hospitals. They are easy to use and give results in minutes.
Here we had a prefect opportunity, in Canada, to show the benefit of the products and they were not able to use them because of the cost and process for getting approval.
They are focussing on the US as a market with bigger potential, where they have had greater success.
By the way, if any of you know of any marketing and distrubition companies that want to become active in pushing these products in Canada, I beleive Medmir would be interested in hearing from them.
