OT From CNN on holiday shopping

OT From CNN on holiday shoppingI've added the emphasis
"Overall, the U.S. retail sector is expected to endure one of its worstholiday seasons in years. Sales are projected to climb just 2.2%,according to the National Retail Federation, making it the weakestsales gain in six years."

I can't tell you how often I've heard idiots out there talking about this downturn in the context of the great depression. The stock market has been absolutely decimated. S&P 500 prices are at lowest point in more than 10 years which is amazing if you factor in the inflation over that time period. All this pessimism yet sales are projected to GAIN this holiday season. Absolutely amazing the negative media spin thats being put out there. Seriously you'd think the media was trying to cause widespread panic and hysteria rather than help the economy by calming some fears. Anyone talking about this downturn in the context of the great depression should be ashamed of themselves. This is a very significant slow down but seriously this has gotten blown way out of proportion.

Here's the whole story. It's in the context of a story about a walmart worker trampled during holiday sales. I don't think people were trampling employees to death during the great depression while shopping for the Christmas. Yikes
