RIM did right to withdraw
RIM did right to withdrawbecause falling into RIMMS hands would have supress certiocms growth which the latter badly needs.
Certicom being independent
the pluses are a) IP; b) managment committed to a time line for profitability rather then spewing out BS about "addressable market";
Minuses: appears less successful than its major competitor with "unprotected technology" in revenue generation and profits. However, Certicom is entering new verticals. Wish they did more in gaining market share in obvious applications such as smart cards and mobile financial applications.
Finally, RIMM needs ECC so hopfully they can put the acquisition behind them and pay more based on ECC adoption for new applications. Without the latter RIM is going to lose market share.
