RE: DividendsAre you sure the government would be coming to its senses if it let the banks merge??? If the banks had been allowed to merge they would have become like the financially insolvent American banks. Several informed persons have stated that the banks should get down on their knees and that their lucky stars that the federal government refused to allow them to merge. The only winners would have been the ceos and other top management whose golden parachutes would have allowed them a graceful exit at the shareholders' and public's expense.
