ResultsI talked to Nancy this morning and of course they are very disappointed with the results. She made a few interesting comments.
I wanted to know why the diamond counts were much lower that previous samples. The Tuklu sample was ~50x larger than the previous RC samples, but they only got about 5x the number of diamonds on the same wire screen.
i.e. the Tuklu 1B sample from May 27/08 had 6 stones on the 0.85 and 33 stones on the 0.6 screen but the mini bulk sample only had 31 on the 0.85 and 204 on the 0.6. There should have been ~300 on the 0.85 and 1600 on the 0.6
Nancy's explanation was that they used DMS (Dense Media Separation) and that it won't liberate all of the diamonds that Caustic Fusion will, but it is cheaper and would be used in production. She felt that the slight increase in total diamonds released in CF wouldn't affect the results any and that they were hoping for a better diamond distribution (ie more large diamonds). Looking at the diamond distribution, I feel that the bulk results match the small RC samples pretty well; they both have ~95% of the diamonds on the 0.6 screen or smaller.
