Seems like a no-brainer to me. I did the same. The real rate of return on any "safe" investment these days is negative. All you need is for IVW to trade at 15 cents and you've realized 25 to 50% on your money given recent market prices for IVW shares. The downside is the company goes out of business. The upside is a possible ten bagger or more tax-free return on your TFSA. Got to love it. It's so good I can imagine Flaherty cancelling the program in a few years "in the national interest because there is too much tax leakage." The bureaucratic mind treats our money like their own - they would like to have our pay cheques sent to Ottawa so they could remit to us what they don't plan to spend. Good on you if you can keep some out of their hands.
