RE: RE: Let's look at the whole picture...Last night on Montreal French TV there was a documentary on Water supplies in the world. They talked a lot about the Nile. It crosses 10 countries and Egypte is the last one and depends on all the other 3rd world countries before them. Uganda is one of them. Somalia is a big player in this game too
One of the supplier to the Nile is of course Victoria lake so it is up to the more developped countries to help poorer countries to advance and prevent waist of this much needed water. Irrigation is needed all along the way of the Nile's descent to the Mediterranean ocean. We're talking 600-700 millions people depends on it.
So if help in producing nuclear energy is provided, less dams will be built thus less control done from the poor countries over the richer countries in the north. .
The president of Egypte mentionned that they had to help the poorer countries to get ahead too and do planning for the best use of this water. I'm sure that it would be to their best interest to help build some nuclear plants to produce electricity in these developing countries.
Uganda could be setting an example in Africa and/or be a supplier of Uranium in this part of the world. It surely would be to the interest to Egypte to see that it happens.
No cheap electricity = no industries = poverty = no money to import necessary food
Poverty = No controlled and efficient irrigation = no water = no agriculture = no food
No water and no food = death, starvation, political unrest
Wouldn't be ironic that Uranium could save millions of lives and help Africa get out of its ghetto!
By the way, this documentary explained that all the main rivers going down through India, Pakistan, Cashmere come from Tibet, the Himalaya. This would surely explain why China is so obstinate to keep its control over Tibet. They can control the main water supply to an entire continent from there!!!!
