Silicification

SilicificationThe presence of syenite and syenite porphyries in a deformation zone (such as the TDZ) along with silicification, (and possibly other alteration types such as  albitization, chloritization), is a really good sign from the point of view of an exploration geologist.  That gold is proven to exist in the TDZ (and not only proven to exist, but proven to exist at significantly high levels of concentration) is very important.

Silicification occurs when fluids carrying SiO2 (silica) migrate along zones of broken rock - conduits, that is, formed by faulting - often where you get adjacent rocks of different hardnesses and competencies - such that when faulting or folding occurs, one rock type breaks up more easily than the other. This results in the formation of conduits within the deformation zone.  Along with the silicification come pyrite (fool's gold) - and sometimes, very little VG (visible gold).  It's been called 'fool's gold' because it a little bit resembles real gold.  However, in the case of some of the Abitibi deposits, real gold is to be found inside the fool's gold (iron pyrite).  So one, indeed, would be a fool, to throw away the fool's gold!

The Porcupine-Destor deformation zone in the Abitibi is a similar gold bearing geological environment where some minig companies are contemplating mining large quantities of rock via open pit methods grading as low as 2-3 grams per tonne.

I think GGY has a good thing going in Tyrell Twp. where they have a significant land position covering a very good strike length of the TDZ.  The added four areas of resistivity (possibly indicating zones of greater silicification with pyrite and hopefully gold) simply increase the likelihood of more gold being found.

Good luck to you all.
