M.E.G. Meeting - PGD Presentation Today

M.E.G. Meeting - PGD Presentation Today

Brooke Clements presented on the Chidliak discovery today at a meeting put on by the Vancouver Mining Exploration Group.  Here is what I learned:

The region hosts the potential to be of similar scale to the Ekati region kimberlite field.

This is one of only 3 JV's that BHP has in the world today.

BHP backed in earlier than they had anticpated because of the nature of the Chidliak results.

Trenching will begin in May, results by 3rd quarter.

BHP will be spending $9.2 million this year which will include 1200 till samples, trenching of CH1 and some drilling.

They have staked an area larger than the Ekati/Diavik and south to Gaucho Kue region.  Therefore if it does host a kimberlite field equivalent in size to that in NWT, they have it all.

There is an easy access inlet on the property where they could build a port.

It is 150km from Iqaluit and the intervening country is not swamped by lakes, so building a road or a railroad would be easier than in the NWT.

General consensus is that this is a project to watch.

Hope that helps.
