Day trumpets trade opportunities with China

International Trade Minister Stockwell Day is denying the Canadiangovernment has changed its focus on China from human rights to trade,in an interview with CTV's Question Period.

Speaking Sunday from Beijing, where he's leading a weeklong trademission, Day said he'll be looking at the "whole relationship" withChina. But he underscored the main purpose for the trip is to drum upbusiness for Canadian companies, which analysts say Ottawa has beenlate to the game.

"This is a trade mission. We were meeting with representatives oftwelve Canadian companies who are here promoting constructionexpertise, energy saving buildings in harsh climates. It's absolutelyamazing what's going on here," Day said. "The opportunities are greatand we will talk about everything."

Stolkwell Day certainly was excited about the business Bombardier is developing in China.  Several times he said, with enthusiasm, that Bombardier's business maybe part of the growing economy in China.
