RE: SST didn't pay for Riskmetrics news release
RMARC,
I have no difficulty believing that some institutions would pay for research to help them decide how to vote because they don't have analysts with sufficient knowledge to evaluate the merger terms.
About my conversation with Patchett, Patchett said he inquired with Jason and John in his office, and they told him no, they had not paid for the news release. They told him that if Silverstone had paid for the news release they would have to disclose that. Now whether Patchett was lying to me, I don't believe that. It goes to character. I have known Patchett for years and I have never known him to use puffery or lie about anything. The opposite is true, he is understated and low key in his approach and I have always known him to be a straight-up guy.
