RE: Gladys, please explain....
Darbygirl, thanks for your great post. You've obviously been doing your homework! This is clearly an important issue for you, so let me shed some light on it.
You say: Clearly, VendTek officials have advised both you and Mr Karpov (andpossibly others) that the company’s on-going silence is notmanagement’s decision, but rather forced upon them by the law orregulators or something or somebody.
That's not the case. VendTek officials have been quite clear about the reason for their silence. They have been advised by their lawyers to put out minimal information, not to create any situations where information could be misinterpreted. That given the situation, what might or might not be construed as speculative is a grey area, and it's prudent to err on the side of caution. They have decided to accept the advice of their legal counsel....hey, they are paying for it.
Given some of the claims on this board, I can see the logic. I'm not saying I support it, or agree with it, but I can understand and accept it. I'm a marketer by training...my nature tells me to get something out there, even if it's just a little music to soothe the savage beasts...:) But I also understand that Vendtek is not run by marketers, it's run by engineers, and engineers think a lot more like lawyers than marketers do. And remember that shareholders have no inherent right to information...another fact that frustrates me as a marketer.
But there's nothing I can do about any of that, so I'm not going to chase that car down the road..:) I'm not a lawyer, so I'm not qualified to present an argument worth listening to. I'm not an accountant, so I won't comment on accounting errors, etc.
And I figure if the business is growing the way I suspect it is, really, this is a small hitch along the way. But this really all boils down to what I said before: either you trust...or you don't. And if you don't trust by nature, it's easy for fear to rush in and next thing you know you're stuck in finger-pointing, blaming, and indignance.
Might I suggest, If you don't trust, that picking up the phone and calling Doug or Samantha may help. You'll find that they are both professional and honest. However, you may find that words like "fudging" and "fibbing" may not move you to the front of the line..:) Be pleasant and respectful, not critical. Remember that the daily business is still going on and they are both very busy. Make sure before you offer critical comments that you have relevant experience and credentials to back them up...someone once wisely told me "no want wants to be told how to raise their kids or run their business."
(Personally, I am finding the profile ranking on SH to be a handy little tool. It's interesting to see how many people are ignoring many of the armchair critics, both on the VSI board and elsewhere. Ya gotta love this web 2.0 stuff).
I'm not saying I like how things are being handled, but I do like the overall direction and management of the business. I believe a very wise Israeli PM, in responding to one of Reagan's moves, said something like: "Reagan is my friend. What he did was not wise. But he is still my friend."

BTW, I do need to tell you how much I enjoy reading your posts..the colourful language, the amount of research you've done. I've almost seen blue smoke wafting from my screen on your last few posts. You're cute when you're mad...ha ha...!
