I talked to a senior staff member of a major international hotel and she put me onto the goldshops in Chinatown. Heck,so much gold,often a lot over 80 grams. Some big stuff. The biggest store was big but I did not try measuring, only I have not seen such a place before.

I got recommended one chain especially and sent to their biggest shop.When there,the 8 staff were run off their feet by Chinese buying.Probably more business in a day than all NZ jewellers combined.

Off to buy more mangos and watch some old Columbo on my hotel TV.
