ELKO— Yukon-Nevada Corp. Chief Operating Officer Graham Dickson has beennamed to the board of Monument Mining Ltd., according to a recentannouncement.

Yukon-Nevada President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Baldock is also president and CEO of Monument Mining.

Hereplaced Dickson in those Yukon-Nevada positions, and Dickson took overas COO to focus on Jerritt Canyon Mine operations north of Elko.

JerrittCanyon shut down its roaster operations at the end of May and then shutdown all milling operations in June because the mine didn’t installmercury monitoring equipment by a deadline set by the Nevada Divisionof Environmental Protection.

Baldock said in June the equipment was on order, and the company hoped to restart the mill once the new equipment is installed.

Spokesman Nicole Sanches said in an e-mail Thursday that the mill hasn’t been restarted yet.

Alsoin June, Yukon-Nevada dismissed contractor Golden Eagle Internationalin June and was taking job applications to operate the mill throughYukon-Nevada subsidiary Queenstake Resources, rather than through thecontractor.

Golden Eagle had more than 80 workers at Jerritt Canyon.

“Weare pleased to have Mr. Dickson join the Monument Board of Directors,”said Monument Chairman George Brazier in the Monument announcement onDickson.

“His experience and the fact he is a miningprofessional complement the present board and is invaluable for ourSelinsing gold mine development currently being undertaken inMalaysia,” he said. — By Adella Harding
